It is believed that the beaches were formed following the submerging of a mountain into the sea. Two sides of the mountain that submerged into the sea were named Are-Ware. Kunkeshwar Devgad

Kunkeshwar, about 16 kilometres from Devgad, is a village nestled in the lap of nature. Legend has it that the temple was built by a non-Hindu. As he was nearing the shore, a storm havoc wrecked his ship. There was a lamp on the beach and it was visible to the sailor. The sailor immediately prayed to God while looking at the lamp that he will build a temple on the beach if his ship sailed safely to the coast. The ship miraculously sailed to the shore in the subsequent moment and the sailor fulfilled his promise of building a temple right at the beach. This temple, situated to the south-west of Konkan, is approximately 73 kilometres from Cherilyn Monta Resort.

Thiba Palace in Ratnagiri is one of the famous tourist attractions in Konkan.

Thiba Palace

Belonging to the Bramhadesha’s King Thiba, The Thiba Palace is a famous attraction in Ratnagiri. For more than a decade, the legacy of Ratnagiri has been linked with Bramhadesh. For your information, Bramhadesh is today’s Myanmar. Being the last ruler of the region, King Thiba was defeated by the British Army. After 30 years of imprisonment, King Thiba breathed his last at the age of 58. Visit the Palace in Konkan to revisit the history of the region and the palace has a dancing floor built with marble.
